FRIENDS for the Journey

YES's “FRIENDS for the Journey” program offers potential Y90 recipients, those who have undergone SIRT treatment, and their families insight and advice from a caring and reliable source -- other survivors who have walked in their shoes.  For those interested in talking with a FRIEND, the process is simple.  All you need to do is make one easy phone call to 1-877-937-7478!  You will then be connected with someone who has a similar diagnosis, has undergone Y90 treatment, or has experienced concerns similar to your own within 24 hours. FRIENDs are trained to know when a question needs to be addressed by a physician rather than a peer. However, most survivors are generally not looking for medical information but instead want to hear the experience and perspective of someone who has dealt with a particular decision or situation. They want to speak with someone that has made the same choice, gotten past it, and is on the road of survivorship.  Above all, FRIENDs ensure that you have
hope for your journey.

What benefits will I receive from FRIENDs support?

Inspiration and hope are rewards that come with a FRIEND. Sharing will allow you to examine your personal cancer journey and prognosis, provide powerful insights into your ability to choose the quality of your survivorship, and empower you to reclaim your strengths and abilities .

How can I get a “FRIEND for the Journey”?

Simply call 1-877-937-7478 and ask to be connected to a FRIEND.

When will my FRIEND support begin?

You will be connected with a FRIEND within 24 hours of your phone call.

When will my FRIEND support end?

FRIENDS are here for the journey and the relationship is a personal one. Our program is designed for the designated FRIEND to offer support and stay in contact for a period of three months.  In some instances, continued shared experiences are either unwanted or not necessary and that is taken into account. You can communicate as seldom or often as you would like and the friendship can last days, weeks, months, or continue for life.

Do I have to be a cancer survivor to be given a FRIEND connection?

FRIENDS are available for survivors and caregivers alike. Just explain your particular situation and ask to be matched.
